Sprinter {HA}

On Saturday I joined Becky run a 5k at her school fundraiser.

I have this thing thinking I can just run 3 miles without running in probably about a year and being out of shape around the status of an obese person. SJ was joining me but I "made him back out" the night before because he had two shows he had to be in that night and he has precious weak knees. As long as he was there to take my picture I didn't care. Before I go on, lets just take a recap to last year when I decided to do the same activity:

super pumped to join my fam the day before

short lived.

 WALKED across the finish line ready to throw up. . .

This time that wasn't going to happen. When the race was approaching though these teachers were saying they were hoping they weren't last because the little tikes can run for miles. I began to freak out thinking I was going to be last.

I wasn't last. But I was worked by a few tots. Including Becky who runs marathons in her free time for goodness sake. (also let me point out how beautiful she looks. I lost her 5 mins in..considering how good she looks, maybe she didn't even run the dang thing!) Sports asthma hit me around mile 1.5 but a tender mercy appeared. They had Lindon police around the cross walks helping you across the street and there was the officer that almost shot me down for doing laundry a few weeks before. Surprisingly, he remembered me and offered me water and we got to talk for a few mins. I wanted to beat my 35 min loser time from the year before but I knew I wasn't going to make that once I got there and saw the course of hill. At least I RAN across the finish line.

 SJ was about two mins shy of seeing me finish was sad but I was too tired to care! I'm glad I got to collapse onto him once I was done. He felt bad for missing me finish because he thought I cared so much about the finish line picture (nope). So we just reenacted that bad boy with a sarcastic face. . .

Two hilarious moments of that day:

*I posted a picture of me "finishing my 5k" on instagram while probably about at least 4 of my friends were posting them finishing marathons. one step at a time speed racers.

*My dad was congratulating me about twenty mins after the race and then asked me if I wanted to do a 10k with him in June. Too soon pops.

  1. Still impressed that you finished. Woohoo! Okay, perhaps Becky is a rockstar and a glamorous one at that...but you still finished!!
