Taking Chances

So I have mentioned a few times on this blog about how Celine Dion might have a personal vendetta against me. You can read the whole back story of me and Dion here here and here. That post ends with me saying "Celine, please take care of your voice. I would hate to make this a third disappointment." And guess what? That third attempt ended in a disappointment. Let me give you the short version:

*Celine Dion changed her world tour date back in 2006 to a time I could not attend
*she cancelled on us for our honeymoon in 2012
*flew from GA for our 1 year anniversary and she cancelled the night before

Thankfully there was a time back in 2010 where she didn't cancel. It was the best concert there ever was. If only SJ was there! Think about it though, 3 cancelations out of 4 is pretty painful. Last year we wrote a letter to Celine whoever gets her mail, including pictures of me standing next to the cancelation posters. We weren't expecting a response {which we didn't get} but just wanted to do it--just to say we did.

People think I'm crazy to keep trying but I have to! A new day has come! (get it?) There is no way she could cancel THREE YEARS IN A ROW right? If she does, this will be disappointment #4. It is starting to get extremely weird but I'm still going for it! You'll be hearing from me if she cancels again. 4 out of 5 times? Impossible. But that is what I said last year. Oh well, my heart will go on. . .

side note: anybody who calls themselves a Celine Dion fan will understand my title of this post

Come Thou Fount

I have the fondest memories of playing the piano while my Dad or Kristine would sing along. I was never the soloist but I loved playing for people. When I first heard Shaun sing at EFY, I was blown away and then immediately wanted to accompany him. In February when we spoke in our new ward, we also performed a musical number for the first time together. It was so special to me! It has been fun goofing around just by ourselves but every now and then -when I can get my stress level under control- we decide to perform again in church.

Today Shaun sang a gorgeous version of Come Thou Fount. And I loved every minute of it! Chills during his acappella part and two spots during the number where I found myself truly listening to Shaun sing and I almost lost my place {which then put me in a major panic. don't do that Nicole}. I am grateful for music and the talents we have received to touch other people through music.

This was during one of our practices.
I recorded it next to the piano, so that is why
it is so loud over SJ's voice.

Fried Chicken

The phrase "ward family" really never resonated with me until I left Utah. I was blessed with a wonderful ward in Georgia which was just that, my family. A ward family that I thought I would never have again. That was one of the things I was hesitant about moving to Florida, especially considering that we were moving to a vacation destination/retirement community. Fortunately enough, there is a medical school near by which brings in some amazing {young} people. They are all amazing and have made these last six months FLY by. I don't think I have laughed for 3 hours straight in a very long time. I always wake up the morning after a girls night with my cheeks KILLING from how sore they are. I made them take {low quality} pictures with me and they roll their eyes as I say:

"guys, if we don't take a picture it never happened"

In other news, we all went to the beach today, rounded up some dead starfish, and fried our skin off. All of which happened while sporting the mullet hairstyle which usually makes its appearance these days. . .pictured below. All in a days work.

Hip Bones

T H E  W E E K E N D  I S  S O  S H O R T !

I wonder how many people have said those words before. Weekends really are so awesome especially with a husband as fun as mine. Shaun and I were saying the other day that our neighbors probably think we can't go anywhere without the other. This is because every time we end up seeing them, it is on the weekend where we truly are connected at the hip. It's my favorite time. Shaun even will accompany me to buy groceries! Going to the grocery store by yourself can just be miserable sometimes {I am sure I will retract that statement once I have crying babies in the cart}.

Lately we have been exploring the beautiful golf course/retirement community that we live in. I wish we would have started a little bit earlier before the humidity hit. The tripod is obviously needed these days because my iphoto is just full of solo pictures of Shaun or myself. Florida's beautiful y'all, but the weekend in Florida...
